While my family was here we did a lot of things including going to the park, the beach (just to see not to take a dip), and two street markets. We especially had fun shopping after my dad left. Between my mom and my sister I think they bought 10 purses and Ashlee went home with 7 new pairs of shoes. But don´t worry, even with the bad exchange rate they were all bargains. The hardest thing was finding room in their suitcase to take them home. We also enjoyed eating churros with hot chocolate on several occasions and watching American made for TV movies. (During the holiday season they show a ton of these movies and we could switch the language to English so we could all enjoy)
We also went to Cartagena´s Three Kings Holiday Parade. (In Spain not only does Santa Claus come to deliver gifts to the children on Christmas day but on the 6th of January, Baltasar, Gaspar, and Melchor, the three Wise Men, come on their camels to deliver presents to all the good boys and girls.)
Since Leo is the Bishop of the ward, my family also had the opportunity to help us with our ward´s holiday activities. My mom and dad helped purchase the food for the Christmas dinner and they also helped set up and decorate the building for the event. The dinner was scheduled to start at 8pm but we didn´t even start until 9pm. We got home about midnight after cleaning up. (My dad mentioned that we are just starting an activity here in Spain when they would be already cleaning up in the States.)
In our ward it is also a tradition to have a Three Kings Day activity where 3 members of the ward dress up as the wise men and then they throw candy to the crowd and then pass out gifts to all the children. Once again my family got to help. My mom and Ashlee helped us purchase the toys and candy and then we took it all down to the chapel where Mom and Ashlee wrapped gifts for 2 hours straight. Thank goodness they were here to help.

It's fun to go on outings, isn't it? Sometimes I feel it is a chore to get all the kids ready, snacks ready, risk making kids too tired (which means a cranky next day), or too cold. But, I am always glad when we do it, and kids talk about how it was the greatest day of their life. So nice to have family to help and enjoy the outings!
